<p><strong>Personal Information Consent (POPIA)</strong><br />The Parkside Hockey Club receives, maintains and retains information and records of members. Club History
<p>The hockey club was founded in 1985 in East London and is an affi liate of the Border Hockey Association. The club has been in operation ever since, open to all members in the communities, with a special focus on the previously disadvantaged communities.</p>

<p>To provide a safe, fun, and competitive environment for athletes and to foster their hockey development as individuals and teammates, while promoting citizenship, respect, work ethic, and sportsmanship for the game.</p>

COMPULSORY PLEDGE

The vision of the club is to be the preferred hockey club of choice. This bestows a large burden on all members to actively participate in various aspects of the club which entails: fund raisers, outbound tours, community outreaches, skill development and others. As a member you therefore pledge to support the management in driving these initiatives and will comply to below:
Code of Conduct:
<ul> <li>Win or lose, players shall congratulate their team-mates and coaches as well as the players and coaches of the opposing team in a genuine and positive manner.</li> <li>Derogatory comments are absolutely forbidden.</li> <li>The umpires are in charge of the game.</li> <li>Only the captains and vice captains of the team shall address the umpires and then shall do so only in a civil tone.</li> <li>Use of foul or abusive language is absolutely prohibited.</li> <li>Explanations of a referee's call may be legitimately sought, questioning the umpire's judgment is forbidden.</li> <li>Accept the call and get on with the game.</li> <li>Verbal abuse of match offi cials is forbidden and is punishable by dismissal from club pending disciplinary process adhered to and appeal is requested by guilty player/member.</li> <li>No player shall use performance enhancing drugs or other substances from time to time listed on the banned or prohibited substances Play hard but play fair.</li> <li>Hockey by its nature is a physically tough game; it shall be played with maximum effort in a sportsmanlike manner within the rules from time to time endorsed by the FIH, SAHA and Border Hockey Association.</li> <li>Players shall not set out to intentionally aim or injure another team member/opposition player and the coaching staff and match officials by their actions, words, conduct or inaction, shall not encourage or endorse such behaviour - this is forbidden.</li> <li>Players and coaches alike shall participate in the game of hockey with honesty and integrity. Harassment is understood as encompassing a very broad range of prohibited behaviour, including discriminatory conduct, physical and sexual harassment, emotional, mental, physical and sexual abuse.</li> </ul> Parkside Hockey Club believes that any hockey player should have the ability to discuss any concerns that might be classified as harassment. The Club also believes that false allegations can be devastating to a person's career and personal life. In view of the incidents of harassment that have MAY affected the sport of hockey. We therefore believe that there is a need for a concerned player, to be able to talk in private and confidentially with our Club. We as Parkside Hockey Club members, coaches, umpires, managers and players adheres to the Safeguarding Policies and regulations as stipulated and endorsed by the South African Hockey Association.

<p dir="ltr"><strong>As a new or existing member, you are required to pay a commencement fee of R 250.00 to indicate your commitment to the club which is compulsory. This will be credited to your account as member.</strong></p><p dir="ltr">The 2026 fee structure is as follows and is subject to change if reviewed at an Exco Level and communicated thereafter.:</p><p dir="ltr">Junior Player (18 years and younger): R 1009<br />Senior Player (older than 18 years): R 1592<br />Masters (older than 35 years): R 250.00<br />Non-Playing Members / Supporters: R 100.00</p><p dir="ltr">Note:<br />Compulsory Payments are expected as follows: End of July, 75% of the total balance and the remaining balance by end of August 2026.</p><p>The club bank details are as follows:<br />Account name: Parkside Men's Hockey Club<br />Bank Name: First National Bank<br />Branch Code: 210221<br />Account Name: 62007691589<br />Reference: Your name (New member) or Club member number (existing member)</p>
